Why a Japanese Girl Is Concerned about Her Boyfriend's Past
When a girl is just starting a new relationship, although she feels happy and in love, she also can't help but think about ex-girlfriends and start wondering about her boyfriend's past. Why do girls want to know about these past relationships?
1. Because she wants to know how it might affect this relationship.
Some women want a reference point for how to approach their current relationship: “If I know what kind of relationship they had, and how they broke up, it can help me build our relationship.”
2. Because knowing about the past relationship can help her understand how she’ll be treated.
There are women who try to get a perspective on how they might be treated by finding out how their boyfriends treated their past girlfriend: “If I ask him why they broke up, then I know what kind of relationship he’s used to being in. If he’s a liar or a cheat, then he’ll never change.”
3. Because she wants to know everything about her boyfriend.
Some women want to know absolutely everything about their boyfriend’s past: “I want to know what kind of relationships he’s been in, and how that makes him who he is today.”
4. Because she wants to know that he loves her more than he ever loved his ex-girlfriend.
She will be satisfied as long as he believes that she’s his all-time number one: “Because I want to know I’m better than his exes.”
5. Because she wants to know whether or not he’s a player.
To figure out whether their boyfriends have played the field in the past, some women will ask about their history: “I would hate it if he was a player. I don’t want to worry that he’s a cheat at heart.”
6. Because she wants to know what kind of woman is his “type.”
Some women will ask about the past to find out what his ideal woman is: “I always wonder what kind of girls he used to date.”
7. Because she wants to know if her boyfriend has grown as a person through his past relationships.
Digging into his past is one way for a woman to see if her man has matured and grown as a person: “I want to know that he’s with me now because he’s become a better person after all of his past relationships.”
